IEC 61508 is the international standard for functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety-related systems. It provides a framework for ensuring that these systems are designed, implemented, operated, and maintained to achieve a required level of safety integrity. The standard covers the entire lifecycle of a system, from concept to decommissioning. Stealth Multi-Role is the only military electronically controlled underwater life support system designed in accordance with the stringent safety requirements of IEC 61508.

As the manufacturer of the world renowned ANSTI underwater LSS uncrewed laboratory test equipment, JFD has a unique insight into the needs of LSS development testing.
The JFD Life Support Test Facility is a fully integrated laboratory system operated by experienced technicians and life support design engineers.
The ANSTI system offers advanced performance testing of equipment under diverse and extreme operating conditions, ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Manufactured In-house
To ensure greater oversight and control of the entire manufacturing process JFD has the ability to build our Life Support Systems / Submarine Rescue Systems / Tactical Diving Vehicles and Submarine Platforms in our own facilities around the world.
Less reliance on external suppliers and manufacturers means greater efficiency, quality and cost savings which are passed down to the customer.





Magnetic Range
Testing is a critical element of the development, design, and production process. An example of JFD’s test capability is the JFD Magnetic Test Range (MTR).
Originally built to meet the exacting standards of the Federal German Navy (FGN), the JFD MTR is certified to undertake magnetic testing in accordance with NATO standards. This guarantees that JFD LSS intended for MCM diving operations consistently complies with defence standards for magnetic cleanliness such as for example AEODPP-7 / STANAG 2897 Class A.
